Anna Nordqvist’s Open Championship triumph in 2014 was the highlight of a stellar career on the women’s golf tour in Europe.

The two-time Women’s British Open winner is one of four women to have claimed the equivalent of the men’s Open title on the Ladies European Tour (LET).

Asked what the crown meant to her, Nordqvist told BBC Sport: “It’s the biggest title in our sport.

“There have been some great years as a player and that win was a pivotal point in my career.”

Described as a “hot property” by Patrick Poulin, who manages Europe’s golfer of the year over 50 years old, Nordqvist captured the Ladies European Tour Order of Merit in 2014 and 2015 before taking her first major title.

The 34-year-old’s achievements over the past five years have been outstanding, with the fact she had to battle back from a battle with asthma to achieve them further highlighting her amazing story.

“The asthma has gone but it’s also caused more pressure,” Nordqvist said. “I also have a baby son now which only adds to the fire.

“I am just trying to be happy in my own skin.”
