During the 2017 Ryder Cup in France, Xander Schauffele won what is thought to be the first ever U.S. team medal in golf’s showcase, the Ryder Cup.

The 24-year-old ran out a winner over 2016 champion Sergio Garcia, a shock winner in the other morning foursomes.

Though Schauffele struggled over the past two years, he and partner Justin Thomas secured a memorable win.

Now Schauffele has admitted his father, Roland, is out to snatch his precious medal.

“My parents are hardcore golf people,” he told CNN. “They live and die by it.

“They watch us all the time and probably watch almost every tournament, including the majors. He’s probably taking some of my stupid shots — you know golf is a funny game.

“He’s actually hitting a golf ball in my front yard a couple of times, his ball is hitting my door every time I turn around.

“This is the kind of father he is; he wants to grab that last piece of the medal. He’s a hardcore golfer. He’s not afraid to get his hands dirty.”
