Newcastle based blogger, Melissa Marshall showcased pieces from her pre-loved clothing collection in a recent Eco Style photoshoot.
With influencers currently under fire for promoting fast fashion, Melissa has looked the other way and found more ethical ways of styling and revamping her wardrobe.
She said: “I started last year organising my own clothes swaps in my flat and saw that all my friends were throwing their clothes into landfill we decided to do this clothes swap and we got to kind of mix our clothes around and anything that was left over went to the charity shop or went to the women’s refuge.
So, we knew that it was going somewhere that was either supporting somebody or looking after the environment a bit more”
Melissa showed us three ways of styling her vintage fashion in modern ways.
Melissa modelled her roll-neck striped t-shirt and grey checked blazer (both bought from fellow Newcastle blogger Alice Christina on Instagram) with distressed boyfriend jeans handed down from her sister. This is a go-to outfit for her days out.
Summer skirt and shirt
Her blue, patterned mid-axi skirt worn with a plain white, linen shirt (both bought from the British Heart Foundation) showcased a classic and slightly bohemian vibe perfect for a summers day.
Biker chick meets pretty in pink
She channeled her inner Marilyn Monroe in a flared baby pink dress from Ebay but created a major contrast with a vintage leather jacket to add some attitude. A perfect outfit for a night out in Newcastle.
Melissa said: “People are always saying about how hard it is and I think I like to show that it’s not very hard and that all the outfits can be kind of reused or re-styled.”
